First Day Back

One of the beautiful moments in life is when you stand at the school yard fence on the first day back to school. It is a mixed day. Some like getting there and some don’t. It’s one of those amazing moments that we get to see only once a year. And for many, it’s the personal experience itself.
I stood there many times when my children were growing up. First day, first time would be a day of apprehension. Many with fear, not knowing what is beyond those walls and behind the windows. Yes I knew but they didn’t. Many want to go back home where it was nice and comfortable. We pushed them through the door, dragged them kicking and screaming. They made it in that first day.
But the best part is when you, or I took them back to school for the next grade. They had been there and when we came within a block of the playground, off they would run to rekindle friendships they missed all summer. They would run to each other, hug and jump up and down. It was that first day reunion that would in many cases, last them a life time. Some, not so sure of having to be in school but oh so excited about being back with their friends.
Most of us share in that experience. And as your mind drifts back to those many first day school days, I see many of you smiling, reliving an experience that never leaves you.
It can be the same with getting back to church. Taking time off is good and wonderful but then, we start to miss it. It’s the people, the music,  the experiences we go through together. But with church the best part is getting back to the Master. Jesus Christ is there waiting for us each week. But more than that, He wants to be with us each and every day.
Rekindle that experience this Sunday. Come and meet with Him, He’s been here all along and waits for you.
Something to think about.
Rob
